Enactus JMC’s Project Sugam wins ‘People’s Choice for Most Passion in Early-Stage Projects’ Award

Project Sugam participated in the Race to Rethink Plastic which is one of the four races of Enactus World Cup and won the People’s Choice for Most Passion in Early-Stage Projects. The People’s Choice award was for the project that would get the maximum votes from people. This shows the impact Sugam had on everyone.

136 teams across 21 different countries submitted 176 projects for the Race to Rethink Plastic. Project Sugam qualified first under top 48 projects, then under top 12 and ultimately became one of the 4 projects to qualify under this race. The purpose of this race was to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the projects that generate a positive impact on the plastic waste crisis.

Since the start of the race, Sugam has come a long way. It has launched multiple successful campaigns like the recent #pickyourbrick campaign that aims to reduce plastic waste by choosing sustainable alternatives. Many donation drives have been conducted which include donating masks. It has also collaborated with international Enactus organisations like Enactus Hamburg and organisations like Jaago Bharat that provides us with the supplemental production of eco bricks. Sugam has also been able to garner adequate funding from sources like milaap platform and KPMG business ethics grant. We also organised a two-day conclave ‘Vartalaap: An Eco Summit’ where we invited imminent speakers, working closely towards sustainability and waste management, from renowned organisations such as, WWF, UNDP, KPMG, the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, etc. This was a large scale event that made Jesus and Mary College stand out in the Delhi University circuit.
