At Jesus & Mary College (JMC), University of Delhi, we believe that academic excellence goes hand in hand with emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Our commitment to holistic student development includes nurturing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
Wellbeing at JMC is rooted in caring for the whole person. We recognise that university life can bring academic pressures, transitions, identity questions, relationship challenges, and emotional stress. To support our students through these experiences, our wellbeing ecosystem focuses on:
- Professional Counselling Services:
JMC has a dedicated college counsellor, a trained mental health professional, available to students for confidential one-on-one support. Sessions are designed to help students navigate stress, anxiety, academic concerns, relationship challenges, identity and life transitions, emotional distress, and more. Students can also access online counselling support and book appointments through the college’s counselling form or by email.
- Awareness, Workshops & Events:
Through awareness programmes, workshops, and interactive sessions, the college aims to engage faculty and students in conversations and skill-building around mental health and wellbeing.
- Holistic Campus Culture:
JMC fosters an atmosphere of care and community that encourages dialogue around mental health and reduces stigma. Activities such as seminars, mindfulness events, and discussions broaden student understanding of wellbeing as integral to college life. Historical initiatives during the COVID-19 period demonstrated this, with webinars and peer support activities focused on psychosocial resilience.
Why Wellbeing Matters
Aligned with broader higher-education best practices and guidelines that emphasise counselling and wellbeing support in university settings, JMC’s approach ensures that mental health resources are accessible, sensitive to diverse student needs, and integrated with the academic experience.
Jesus & Mary College remains dedicated to empowering students not just to succeed academically but also to cultivate emotional strength, self-care, and balanced lives that prepare them for meaningful contributions to society.
