Our vibrant, truly pan-Indian and increasingly global community creates an intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant environment where diversity is not merely acknowledged but actively celebrated as the cornerstone of transformative education.
At the heart of our campus lies an unwavering commitment to inclusion, belonging, and mutual respect. Purposefully designed spaces, dedicated affinity groups, cultural societies, and inclusive initiatives ensure that every student, regardless of background, identity, region, faith, gender expression, or socioeconomic origin, feels seen, valued, and empowered to thrive authentically.
Beyond the classroom, Jesus and Mary College nurtures holistic personal development, meaningful social bonds, and profound self-discovery. Through vibrant student-led communities, cultural festivals, dialogue forums, wellness resources, and collaborative initiatives, we cultivate an atmosphere where individuals are encouraged to explore their identities, challenge assumptions, forge lifelong connections, and grow into confident, compassionate leaders ready to shape a more equitable world.
These dedicated societies, safe spaces, and support networks stand as living testaments to our belief that true excellence emerges when people from varied journeys come together in a shared purpose.
The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) at Jesus and Mary College is committed to fostering an environment of inclusivity and equity, ensuring that students with disabilities and those from under-represented communities are fully integrated into college life. Upholding the noble mission to promote social awareness, justice, and equal opportunities, the EOC continuously works towards creating a campus culture that values diversity, inclusion, and cohesion. To foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie, throughout the year, the EOC organised several events aimed at bringing together students with disabilities from across various colleges. These initiatives provided numerous opportunities for active participation, fostering interaction and engagement
Ethnic Eight, the Northeast Society of Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi, stands as a space of empowerment for students from the Northeastern states, many of whom navigate experiences of cultural invisibility, stereotyping, and social marginalisation within larger academic spaces. From the start of the academic year, Ethnic Eight usually focuses on easing students into college life by building a strong sense of community. Orientation activities and welcoming events are designed not merely as social gatherings, but as spaces where freshers can confidently express themselves, take up leadership roles, and form lasting networks of support. These initiatives help students transition into a new environment while affirming their identities and experiences. The society places strong emphasis on academic and intellectual empowerment by creating platforms for dialogue around identity, culture, and lived realities, through talks, discussions, performances, and student-led interactions. By actively engaging in college-wide events, Ethnic Eight brings Northeastern cultures into shared spaces through food, attire, music, and dance. These interactions promote awareness and understanding while challenging stereotypes through lived cultural exchange.
Some sections of society are always left with identities defined by the state in a given socio-political and economic structure. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Mt. 5:3). Minority Cell intends to safeguard the rights of the powerless. JMC as a Minority Institution, doing God's work, realises the need to cater to the socially marginalised, linguistically neglected, and economically made poor. Through spreading awareness of Government schemes, scholarships, and institutional networks; this cell lays down the foundation on which minority students would attain a position to manifest their future goals.
