Six sisters of the Order came to India in 1842 and the first institution started by them was St. Patrick’s School in Agra.

Among the many schools founded by them all over the country was Convent of Jesus and Mary, New Delhi founded in 1919. It was also decided to start a College for women in Delhi and the college was founded in July 1968 as constituent college of the University of Delhi. The College is situated on a spacious fifteen acre campus in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The building has been planned very skillfully and the stately structures arising from a solid rock foundation and the lovely landscaping are admired by many, apart from creating a congenial environment for study.

The aim of Jesus and Mary College is to make God known and loved by means of Christian education to all social milieu in keeping with the preference which St. Claudine had for the young and the poor. The College offers an integrated and all round education-intellectual, cultural, social, emotional, physical, aesthetic, moral and spiritual.
